I think one of the most important things that a new home buyer needs to do is trust their builder. They already have given them a great deal of money, they must have liked the house or condo that they chose, so then why during the construction phase do purchasers panic? Why do they try to visit the construction site as often as possible? Unless they are builders themselves, they really won’t understand the construction process, so why put themselves in danger by entering a site that is under construction where they could potentially get hurt? It’s a trust issue.
I fully understand how purchasers feel. They want to make sure that their house is built structurally sound. They want to make sure that the materials being used are top quality. They just want to make sure that their new house is not going to fall apart after they move in. These are all normal feelings, but as I have stated many times, builders must follow code procedures, and they are governed every step of the way during the construction process. I know that one very real concern by purchasers is that the builder might miss a structural change that the purchaser requested and was accepted by the builder as part of the Agreement of Purchase and Sale. The solution is, the purchaser can call the builder during the construction process just to make sure that changes don’t get missed. This is safer than entering the construction site and much easier. When it comes to structure however; I am confident that your new house or condo will be safe and secure.
I always want to see happy purchasers. I would love for people to be able to enjoy the process without anxiety. I know that people have spent their hard earned money to buy their new home, so it would be ideal for this experience to be positive and as stress-free as possible. That is why I focus on education. The core of my consultations is to give the purchaser/homeowner as much insite as I possibly can so that they feel empowered, and confident. I want them to understand the complete process and procedures so that they don’t have to worry, and most importantly, I want them to be able to trust their builder, so that they can have a positive and lasting relationship with them.
